Please Note: This year the current SUES Committee are intending to introduce a new committee structure, subject to approval of members at the Annual General Meeting. The positions available below are the new positions. If at the Annual General Meeting the vote goes against the committee structural change, then positions of the old system will be appointed. Those that have applied to the new system will get first choice of positions. If a position is vacant, regardless of the new or old system, the position will be opened to the audience during the Annual General Meeting.

PresidentThe President is the figurehead of the society. In this role your job will be to outline the annual strategy, chair meetings and manage committee members in order to achieve the best for our members. As the president, you will be responsible for liaising with Sponsors, VP Education of the Southampton University Students Union and the Dean of The Faculty of Engineering and the Environment.
What we are looking for: Understanding the SUES strategy, vision and values, Experience of chairing a meeting, An understanding of the SUES calendar i.e. what happens when, This role is similar to to Chairman previously.
Please note: Only candidates with at least 6 months experience on SUES Committee will be considered for this positions, in line with our constitution.

Vice PresidentAs Vice President, you will assist the President to guarantee the successful running of the society. You will be responsible for supporting the President and Academic, Events and Sports Secretaries with administration, budgeting and executing those activities. Whether it is paperwork to go on Tour, managing the budget for the ball or organising the bunfight, you will be responsible for ensuring everything goes to plan! You will have an active role in organising the Tour and the Summer Ball.
What we are looking for: Passion for the society, An understanding administration processes i.e. setting up a budget, running a project and legal administration, Evidence of time management, team working and experience of chairing a meeting. This role is similar to to President previously.
Please note: Only candidates with at least 6 months experience on SUES Committee will be considered for this positions, in line with our constitution.

SecretaryAs Secretary, you will work on the executive committee ensuring that the strategy, vision and events outlined by committee reach our highly-valued members. It will be your responsibility to realise a coherent marketing plan and maintain communication to our members, sponsors and faculty liaisons through newsletters, emails and using social media. In meetings you will remain impartial to all committee decisions, it will be your role to document discussion, reason and committee votes and ensure minutes are always ready for inspection by committee, members or external parties. You will host committee votes and mediate discussion in case of a conflict of opinions during committee meetings.
What we are looking for: Creative ideas for engaging marketing and communication to members, Good communication skills, A good knowledge of computer programmes, such as word, excel, outlook. This role is similar to Secretary and Publicity/Welfare previously,

TreasurerThe treasurer is an important responsibility on the SUES committee. As treasurer, you will manage a multi-thousand pound budget on behalf of the committee. The treasurer is responsible for receiving and transferring money to where it is required where it is required. This can range from the larger payments such as Ball deposits through to simple reimbursements or subsidies. After scrutinising the previous year's budget, you will work with the President and Vice-President to put together next year's budget. From here on out, you are responsible for ensuring the committee stick to the budget set at handover.
What we are looking for: A basic knowledge of accounting and finance The ability to generate a budget, A good understanding of online banking. This role is similar to Treasurer previously.

Academic SecretaryAs Academic Secretary, you will devise, plan and carry out events on behalf of committee. The Academic part of our core society attracts members who wish to develop, inform and explore their career options whilst at University. During the year you will liaise with some of the biggest names in Engineering, including Airbus, Leonardo and Rolls-Royce PLC. You will be responsible to ensuring that our strong connections with companies grow, prosper and flourish. In this role you will be the face of the Academic section of the core SUES society; meeting, interacting and engaging with members and external visitors throughout the year. You will also be a point of contact for our associate academic societies, such as Toastrack.

Events SecretaryAs Events Secretary, you will devise, plan and carry out events on behalf of committee. The Social part of our core society attracts members who wish to engage, interact and meet members faculty wide, especially during the Freshers' Period. During the year you will contribute and support the President and Vice-President with the biggest events the society hosts, including the Tour and the Christmas and Summer Balls. You will plan, organise and host socials on behalf of the committee throughout the year ensuring that our members interact with the society. In this role you will be the face of the Social section of the core SUES society; meeting, interacting and engaging with members and external visitors throughout the year. You will work directly with the Vice-President and Treasurer to ensure you stick to time, cost and society vision.

Sports SecretaryAs Sports Secretary, you may devise, plan and carry out events on behalf of committee. The Sports section of our core society attracts members who wish to develop skills, enjoy sport and meet members as part of our associate sports teams. During the year you support, liaise and interact with the committees of our associate sports teams, promoting their development, growth and success - this may even involve promoting, facilitating or setting up a new sports team! You will be expected to have a knowledge of the Intramural sports system and Sports and Wellbeing procedures and advise committee, and/or our associate sports teams, if necessary, regarding policy, fee or administration changes. You will plan, organise and host sports events on behalf of the committee throughout the year ensuring that our members interact with the society, such as hosting an Awards Night at the end of the year. In this role you will be the face of the Sports section of the core SUES society; meeting, interacting and engaging with members and external visitors throughout the year. You will work directly with the Vice-President and Treasurer to ensure you stick to time, cost and society vision.

Freshers and Welfare ManagerThis is a brand new role! You will take an active role in supporting the rest of committee preparing for the Bunfight, the Fresher's Bar Crawl and the Academic Tour. Your main responsibility will be to promote member retention throughout the year and encourage Freshers' and Members to join us on our events, sports teams and the tour. You will care for the needs of members including issuing Membership Cards, designing and distributing committee and society clothing and promoting the society collaboration with the Mind Society. You will be expected to support the vast majority of society events and feeding any member feedback during events to the rest of committee.

Web ManagerAs web manager you will be responsibly for maintaining the SUES website and the Society's social media channels. It will be your responsibility to assist the Secretary and the rest of the committee with achieving a coherent marketing strategy and you will be expected to virtually communicate with members and the public who may interact with our social media. In the modern day, Social media is very busy. it will be your responsibility to advise committee on effective usage of the Societies social media and website, and facilitate any requests they may have. You may even be bold enough to start new social media platforms in addition as the website uses the Drupal CMS and previous experience, would be an invaluable tool.
What we are looking for: A good knowledge of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, A passion for coding, An appreciation for online marketing strategies, This role is similar to Clothing Manager and Publicity/Welfare manager previously.
